A few years back we were talking with the one of the directors of Carter Holt Harvey about Cross Laminated Timber as prefab building option. At the time they were looking at bringing it into Australia. Our idea was to develop a conceptual high-end house design where they could showcase the products capabilities. We have included a plan and a few images of the house below.
Cross Laminated Timber is a very sustainable material obtaining a zero carbon status. It has very high thermal performance and is 20% lighter than concrete. As it is built in a prefabricated manner it also aids with construction inefficiencies. KLH are a European supplier of the product and are responsible for doing some very innovative things with it.
