Zaha Hadid at the GSD School or Architecture

The work of Zaha Hadid seems like a dream from another timeframe. It feels worlds apart from our micro efforts to build and design Australian houses in the suburbs of Brisbane for between $1200 and $3000 dollars per m2. The two pursuits hardly seem like they are even in the same profession.

This being said her work is real, it is being realised and it is having major repercussions all around the world, even Australia. Zaha and her team are both loved and hated in the profession of architecture. Despite this, when I get to see her projects I simply can’t help but be astonished by the level of vision and creativity.

Recently, I had the opportunity to watch a lecture recorded in March of this year at the GSC, Harvard’s architecture facility. It is a detailed look at much of her current offerings. Whether you like her work or not it is really worth a look.  What can I say? I just don’t have a grid for this sort of work, never the less it is absolutely fascinating!
